Emmaus Leadership helps Christian leaders and their teams to make real progress in getting a vision for transformation to a critical tipping-point within the organisation that they lead.
Our main work is with church leaders and school principals and their teams but we also offer our services to charities, organisations and businesses where there is an underlying Christian ethos.
"When things don't quite make sense or the challenge seems too hard, Emmaus Leadership comes alongside leaders and their teams to provide the necessary help to pursue the strategy for change."
CEO, Emmaus Leadership
A range of opportunities is available to help leaders make critical progress in both forming a vision for transformational change and then taking the necessary steps to accomplish it.
We make a clear distinction between leadership and management. Leadership is required when there is a journey of change to be undertaken. Management focuses on maintenance and incremental improvement for efficiency. Whilst we need both effective leadership and management to succeed, we believe that the greatest need is for more effective leadership
Emmaus Leadership engages best with Leaders who have a distinct dissatisfaction with the present situation and a transformational vision of a better future..
We help leaders explore three key ingredients for leading change: The CLARITY of vision for a different future; the CAPACITY to undertake the steps of change; and the depth of COURAGE to deal with the challenges ahead.
Often we do this first with a workshop for a bunch of leaders helping them understand the challenges of leading change. After this, most leaders want to take up the offer of a half-price scoping-session with one of our Companions to explore the three ingredients more specifically and consider how Emmaus Leadership might help them take steps forward to reach that all important tipping-point.
Your opportunity for help, support, encouragement and challenge begins with an email or a phonecall to us. We can help you organize a workshop day for your leaders or we can get straight down to it with a scoping session for you on your own or with a few of your leadership team.

Emmaus Leadership came about through the leadership support work Tim Montgomery was doing with church leaders in Cumbria and the similar work Rob Funning was engaged in with leaders in businesses, schools and organisations around the world.
The work of Emmaus Leadership differs from other development initiatives in that its main focus is on delivering the change outcome desired as opposed to the generic development of the leader. Individuals will have a clear vision and calling for specific outcomes that will bring about significant change.
To date we have run workshops for leaders in Manchester, Lancashire, Cumbria, Liverpool ... and Kent! These workshops help a bunch of leaders to explore the essential ingredients and the usual preventatives of leading change. These are highly interactive days and so far most leaders doing the workshop have signed up for an initial scoping session to explore potential support going forward.
The majority of our work is with church leaders and their teams but we have been privileged also to work with groups of school principals and their senior teams.
Currently we are very focused on the Diocese of Liverpool and specifically the Deanery of Wigan as our CEO leads a seven year initiative to see Wigan transformed by the Spirit of God working through courageous leaders of change and their brave accomplices aka 'disciples of Jesus'
We believe in courageous leaders of change who know that things just have to be different and they have a vision for what that might look like.
We do not offer courses, training schemes, working models or habits. We simply come alongside you and your team and help you work out some steps forward from where you are to where you would prefer to be. It's a wilderness wandering with someone alongside ... as well as God of course. The Emmaus Companion will be your coach, encourager, challenger and biggest fan. But they won't let you go back.
Contact Rob to see how we can help you or you and your team ... or maybe your local group of church leaders or, heck, the whole flippin' diocese of leaders if you have one of those annual conferences where an expert tells you the next fad for achieving it all. We won't do that. We will probably wreck the conventions of the conference ... but you will get an 'aha' moment that just might cause you to do something different.
We try to charge out our time at £500 a day which helps cover costs. But we also have access to some charitable support for those who cannot persuade finance directors or church treasurers to spend their money effectively. We are more interested in seeing leaders lead the necessary change than we are in seeing our accounts balance. We trust the big guy who owns everything to give us a handout.
Just contact Rob and explore options. Because if you keep on doing what you're doing you will keep on getting what you're getting and going where you're going.
