Susan is an experienced HR and Organisational Development practitioner who has worked in the public, private and voluntary sectors at a senior level over a period of 20 years. She began her career with a national charity in London providing supported accommodation for young people in crisis and it was during that time that she realised that the support and development of staff was key to an organisation’s success. She then spent a few years purely focusing on leadership and management development. However, keen to return to Scotland she took up the role of HR Director for a Scottish Government agency and re-engaged with operational HR activity but never quite left the leadership and management development behind. She then joined the private sector and again, focused on building leaders of the future through self-awareness and taking personal responsibility.
Susan has developed her skills and abilities to operate in different environments with different cultures and expectations. She has led change management projects and leadership development initiatives, and is an experienced business coach, all of which sit alongside her practical, focused and commercial HR knowledge. She has a PG Dip in HR Management, is a qualified business coach, an MBTI practitioner and has a life experience of dealing with people issues.
Susan writes: “Having worked with several denominations in different capacities and initiatives I know the wealth of commitment and desire to serve that exists in the church. As with any organisation, to be effective, people need both support and their actions and thinking to be challenged. To be part of a fundamental change programme that focuses on faith and service is both humbling and inspiring.”
